WHY THIS MATTERS
- Breathing regulates oxygen delivery and cellular energy
- Nasal breathing supports sleep and nervous system balance
- Mouth breathing alters facial development and posture
- Healthy breathing reduces inflammation and supports longevity
Restore the foundation of your health, energy, and vitality.

Every moment begins with a breath. Yet many people unknowingly develop dysfunctional breathing patterns that affect sleep, posture, energy, and nervous system balance. Aviara Breathing™ restores healthy nasal breathing, proper tongue posture, and efficient respiratory mechanics through integrative evaluation and retraining.
Assessment of breathing patterns, nasal airflow, posture and diaphragm activation
Children with mouth breathing, adults with fatigue or anxiety, and anyone seeking improved sleep, focus, and energy.
Guided by the Aviara Method™, care in every division begins with a structured evaluation designed to identify the root causes of dysfunction rather than simply treating symptoms.
Before their visit, patients complete a comprehensive Aviara Health Questionnaire, which explores breathing patterns, sleep quality, jaw symptoms, lifestyle habits, emotional wellbeing, and other health indicators that influence airway function and overall wellness.
This questionnaire is carefully reviewed with the patient and used to guide the Aviara Health Assessment. The assessment follows the same framework as the questionnaire, allowing us to align the symptoms patients report with the structural and functional findings we observe clinically.
This systematic process is a key part of what makes the Aviara Method™ unique. By connecting patient-reported experiences with objective clinical findings, we are able to uncover patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed and develop a more precise and personalized treatment strategy.
The insights gathered through this process guide the creation of your individualized BioArchitectural Blueprint™, which integrates airway health, structural balance, lifestyle optimization, and emotional wellbeing to restore long-term health and stability.

6- Long-Term Stabilization & Maintenance
Every patient begins with a comprehensive Aviara Health Assessment, guided by the information gathered from the Aviara Health Questionnaire.
During this evaluation we assess:
• airway health and breathing patterns
• tongue posture and oral function
• jaw development, alignment, and range of motion
• craniofacial structure and bite stability
• cranio-cervical posture and musculoskeletal balance
• sleep quality and breathing habits
• lifestyle factors affecting inflammation and healing
• emotional and nervous system regulation
Because airway function influences jaw development, posture, sleep quality, and nervous system balance, identifying these relationships allows us to address the underlying causes of many chronic health concerns.
Once the comprehensive insights are gathered from the Aviara Health Questionnaire and Aviara Health Assessment by the patient navigator, the patient will be evaluated by a division specific provider based on the patient’s primary concern.
When needed, advanced diagnostics may include:
• 3D CBCT imaging
• digital scans & images
• posture and breathing analysis
• sleep screening or testing
• functional laboratory testing
Based on the patient’s questionnaire, assessment and evaluation(s), we develop a personalized BioArchitectural Blueprint™ integrating airway health, structural alignment, lifestyle optimization, and emotional wellbeing.
Treatment is delivered through an interdisciplinary approach that may integrate therapies from multiple Aviara divisions.
Once foundational health and function have been restored, our focus shifts to long-term stability and continued optimization. This phase is designed to maintain results, support ongoing adaptation, and prevent regression as the body continues to evolve. Because true health is dynamic, this phase ensures that improvements are not only achieved, but sustained for the long term.

Breathing Technique, Los Alamitos, California
Traditional yoga works to improve your flexibility, posture, strength, and balance while also helping you stay energized and in better spirits throughout the day. It is also a proven method of stress management and relief, promoting better physical and mental health. With O2 yoga specifically, our expert instructor designs poses that incorporate breath retraining so your body naturally learns how to breathe better and healthier.
OSA is caused by the relaxing of muscles at the back of the throat, which narrows or completely obstructs your breathing. This obstruction leads to apneas or pauses in your breathing throughout the night. Risk factors for developing sleep apnea include obesity, family history of OSA, sedative medications or alcohol use, smoking, and having a thicker neck or enlarged tonsil.
A typical sleep apnea mouth guard or CPAP machine does not cure OSA because it only helps prevent apnea effects throughout sleep. During the daytime, your disordered breathing will still secretly cause issues for you and your health. In some severe cases, sleep apnea can be 90% cured through MMA surgery, which helps reposition the jaws to open up the airways and stop any obstruction. With less severe cases, breathing reeducation and O2 yoga can help retrain the throat, jaw, and mouth muscles to prevent both day and nighttime breathing problems.
Reiki therapy is an alternative form of healing, using energy flow along certain blocked areas of the body to help with relaxation, pain relief, and recovery. It has been around for thousands of years in Japan, though its modern form came to America in the 1940s via Hawaii. Our Reiki-certified breathing reeducation professional also takes a similar hands-on approach with helping you breathe healthier. By helping you relax your breathing as well as use the right muscles correctly, our practice can also help patients with anxiety and asthma when they have moments of shallow breathing and shortness of breath.
Shallow breathing occurs when both your inhales and exhales are rapid and shorter than normal. The cadence of each is the same, which makes it technically different from being short of breath with short inhales and longer exhales. You may also feel lightheaded or chest pain, and your rapid breathing may worsen if it doesn’t calm down.
While temporarily hyperventilating is not dangerous, it causes stress, panic, and anxiety, especially over time. If you are hyperventilating, a quick method you can try is breathing through pursed lips to help slow down and deepen your breathing. During sleep, posture impacts your ability to breathe, too. If you are not already, try lying down on your side, back straight, with one pillow between your legs and another under your head. Sleeping on your back can be dangerous as the tongue and other muscles in your mouth relax and obstruct breathing. Our breathing instructor can also guide you with unique breathing techniques.
