WHY THIS MATTERS
- Tongue function influences airway development
- Oral restrictions affect breathing, feeding, and speech
- Myofunctional therapy improves facial growth and sleep
- Fascia connects the tongue, neck, posture, & diaphragm
Restore the freedom of movement that shapes airway function and development.

Healthy function shapes healthy form. Aviara MyoFascial™ integrates orofacial myofunctional therapy, whole-body fascial balance, and precision frenuloplasty when necessary to restore optimal tongue posture, breathing, swallowing, and cranio-postural alignment.
Evaluation of tongue mobility, swallowing function, oral habits, and neuromuscular coordination.
Guided by the Aviara Method™, care in every division begins with a structured evaluation designed to identify the root causes of dysfunction rather than simply treating symptoms.
Before their visit, patients complete a comprehensive Aviara Health Questionnaire, which explores breathing patterns, sleep quality, jaw symptoms, lifestyle habits, emotional wellbeing, and other health indicators that influence airway function and overall wellness.
This questionnaire is carefully reviewed with the patient and used to guide the Aviara Health Assessment. The assessment follows the same framework as the questionnaire, allowing us to align the symptoms patients report with the structural and functional findings we observe clinically.
This systematic process is a key part of what makes the Aviara Method™ unique. By connecting patient-reported experiences with objective clinical findings, we are able to uncover patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed and develop a more precise and personalized treatment strategy.
The insights gathered through this process guide the creation of your individualized BioArchitectural Blueprint™, which integrates airway health, structural balance, lifestyle optimization, and emotional wellbeing to restore long-term health and stability.

4- BioArchitectural Blueprint™ Creation
5- Integrated Treatment Plan Phase
6- Long-Term Stabilization & Maintenance
Every patient begins with a comprehensive Aviara Health Assessment, guided by the information gathered from the Aviara Health Questionnaire.
During this evaluation we assess:
• airway health and breathing patterns
• tongue posture and oral function
• jaw development, alignment, and range of motion
• craniofacial structure and bite stability
• cranio-cervical posture and musculoskeletal balance
• sleep quality and breathing habits
• lifestyle factors affecting inflammation and healing
• emotional and nervous system regulation
Because airway function influences jaw development, posture, sleep quality, and nervous system balance, identifying these relationships allows us to address the underlying causes of many chronic health concerns.
Once the comprehensive insights are gathered from the Aviara Health Questionnaire and Aviara Health Assessment by the patient navigator, the patient will be evaluated by a division specific provider based on the patient’s primary concern.
When needed, advanced diagnostics may include:
• 3D CBCT imaging
• digital scans & images
• posture and breathing analysis
• sleep screening or testing
• functional laboratory testing
Based on the patient’s questionnaire, assessment and evaluation(s), we develop a personalized BioArchitectural Blueprint™ integrating airway health, structural alignment, lifestyle optimization, and emotional wellbeing.
Treatment is delivered through an interdisciplinary approach that may integrate therapies from multiple Aviara divisions.
Once foundational health and function have been restored, our focus shifts to long-term stability and continued optimization. This phase is designed to maintain results, support ongoing adaptation, and prevent regression as the body continues to evolve. Because true health is dynamic, this phase ensures that improvements are not only achieved, but sustained for the long term.

Breathing Technique, Los Alamitos, California
Fascia is the thin but dense system of soft connective tissues, mostly made of collagen, that covers every nerve, muscle, artery, vein, bone, and organ in your body. The fascia can be flexible or stiff depending on the area and needs of your body. When healthy, it allows you to bend, stretch, and move. However, if it pulls out of position, tightens up, or crinkles, it can cause painful knots called trigger points that limit your ability to move.
Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy our practice can perform to help with myofascial pain syndrome and painful trigger points. Through pressure, stretching, and massage, our specialized chiropractors can release the tension at rigid and taut trigger points to relieve your pain. With especially tight knots, we may need to repeatedly massage those trigger points until the muscles and fascia have fully relaxed.
When myofascial trigger points are released, the knotted fascia can stretch and return to their normal alignment. Pain at those trigger points will start to disappear, and that area of the body will have a greater range of motion and better circulation. Fully released trigger points will return your full mobility. With TMJ, this allows our dentists’ treatments, such as specialized TMJ mouthguards, to work more efficiently and effectively. It also allows you to feel relief much quicker!
Our chiropractors use both myofascial release and craniosacral massage to loosen up the knotted fascia in your lower back. However, there are some things you can do at home to help relieve some of that stress. For example, you can lie down and place a tennis ball on any particularly sore spots. With the ball pressing against those trigger points for about 20 seconds, the muscles start to relax. However, even maintaining better posture when standing and sitting can help with myofascial back pain.
Myofascial pain syndrome is a condition of chronic pain in your body’s trigger points and any referred areas. It can be cured depending on the cause and treatment. With TMJ, we take a comprehensive approach, both treating the problem at its source (stabilizing the jaw and joints) and relieving tension in the fascia via myofascial release and CST. With this double-pronged method, we can treat your myofascial pain more effectively with lasting results.
Not always. Some patients benefit most from therapy alone, while others need a functional frenuloplasty to release restrictions that are limiting proper movement. The right approach depends on the severity of the restriction, symptoms, and how the tongue and surrounding muscles are working as a whole.
